Enterprise Renfrew County has been operating in
Renfrew since 1988 and was formerly known as the Renfrew
County Business Self-Help Office. Our mandate is to
encourage and contribute to the enterprising spirit and
economic development of the County by assisting
entrepreneurs with the development of new or existing
companies.
The Office is a Canada-Ontario
Business Service Centre (COBSC) regional access site.
This joint federal-provincial-municipal initiative
provides useful information to new and established
entrepreneurs about government programs, services and
regulations on starting and sustaining an enterprise in
Ontario.
A Business Plan!
At Enterprise
Renfrew County we don't create your business plan for
you. Our experienced business consultant offers free
assistance and resources to help you write your own
business plan. As you construct your Business Plan you
will soon discover what works, your company's strengths,
weaknesses and some of your ideas and plans may develop
in a totally different direction then you had planned.
Resource Library
Our Reference Library
includes books, magazines, directories and other
materials that will enable you to research your business
idea. These materials include information on products,
services, companies, marketing, statistics,
demographics, small business profiles, professional
associations and local information on Renfrew County. We
also sell books at prices from $14.95 to $21.95 plus GST
that you might not be able to find locally and we can
generally order others that you may need with delivery
in a day or two. The centre also provides a wide range
of free publications that cover all aspects of business
start-up, rules and regulations, sources of financing at
all levels of government, etc.
COBSC Electronic
Resources
Enterprise Renfrew County provides
access to commercial electronic databases through the
Canada-Ontario Business Service Centre computer
workstation located in both offices. These FREE
electronic resources are valuable research tools for
preparing a business plan as well as exploring a new
business idea. It also gives access to a restricted
extranet program that includes extensive international
market research data as well as current information on
government services and programs for small business.
Internet Access and Business Software
There are computer workstations available for
business use. There is access to a variety of software
including word processing, desktop publishing, database
and spreadsheet as well as internet access. Enterprise
Renfrew County hosts various workshops and networking
opportunities throughout Renfrew County for small
business owners. |
